CTSU E1505
This study evaluates the effectiveness of post-surgical chemotherapy compared to chemotherapy plus the monoclonal antibody drug Avastin (bevacizumab), which targets blood vessels that feed tumors. Patients are randomized into two groups, one of which receives only chemotherapy while the other group receives Avastin in combination with chemotherapy. Patients with stage IB, stage II, or stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that was surgically removed are eligible.
Epidemiology Study Stage I - IIIB
CTSU S0424
This study collects tissue and blood specimens from patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and has patients fill out a questionnaire. The study’s objective is to learn more about the disease, specifically why more women than men are diagnosed with certain types of lung cancer and if there are risk factors other than smoking that contribute to women’s higher risk for lung cancer. To be eligible, patients must be newly diagnosed with stage I, II, IIIA, or IIIB NSCLC. Patients participate once annually for five years.
